Human Language
Everyone has their own language.
The number of languages on earth is equal to the number of people on it.
I learned this from a recent series I finished—Can This Love Be Translated?
And I’m glad I did.
Everyone has their own language.
And to be able to speak another person’s language, you have to understand them.
Yes—understanding.
You can’t speak a person’s language if you don’t understand them.
Language is perceptive.
Even feelings are perceptive.
That’s why you can never really know how someone feels.
People say things like, “Oh, I know how you feel.”
Even when they’re coming from the right place, they don’t.
Because everyone feels things differently.
Language isn’t attached to culture or geography—it’s emotional.
Some people go quiet when they’re breaking.
Others are loud and want the whole world to know how they feel.
Some go through unthinkable things, and no one ever knows.
They bury it deep.
What brings joy to one person might not bring joy to another.
And that’s just how it is.
We’re all walking around, looking for someone who speaks the same language as us and that language is understanding.
We all crave to be understood.
When someone understands you without you having to say anything, that’s love.
That’s why it’s easy to be free, open, and eventually love those who understand your language.
Of course, they can’t speak it exactly like you do but understanding it is a step.
When someone is in a situation you don’t know how to handle, give them space to feel.
You can never know how much they’re feeling.
Just try to understand them.
We’re all just trying to be better.
